Internet Access

Direct, high-speed Internet access is now available in the AACS Central Office and other Owensboro locations connected via OMU's fiber optic cable system. This allows Central Office and certain other Owensboro users users of this IntraNet to contact the Internet directly, that is, without going through any Internet Service Provider such as MindSpring or America Online. You can make the settings on your computer required to make the direct Internet connection via your Netscape/Netscape Communicator/Microsoft Explorer browser. If you need assistance, please contact the executive director should you feel you need the direct access to operate from your computer and do not understand the setup.

High-speed Internet Access via the AACS Central Office LAN and OMU Fiber Optic

Locate your browser's Network Preferences setup screen, go to the Proxies screen, and enter the following in the HTTP Proxy: box:

192.168.1.5

Then in the Port: box just to the right, enter:

8080

Then to use the high-speed direct access, click the Manual Proxy Configuration radio button. You're then ready to "surf" the Web. To revert back to regular dial-up Internet access via an ISP, such as MindSpring, click the No Proxies radion button on your browser's Network Preferences/Proxies screen.
