The AAHS Policy Council met at the Brothers Restaurant in Madisonville on November 18, 1997. The meeting was called to order at 10:35 p.m. by Vicki Ratcliffe, Chairperson. Angela Armour made a motion to dispense with roll call. Margaret Duke seconded the motion; motion carried. A quorum was present.

Additions to the agenda were as follows: under new business add #4, Christmas Party.
New Business:
Early Head Start: Carol Krampe gave the report in Aubrey's absence. We did not receive the grant for this year but we still have a chance for it next year.
Committee Reports:
Personnel Committee: Lisa Kendall gave the report for the committee.
Executive Committee: Pat Barnes gave the report on the New Head Start Management System. Pat went over the plan with the council. She explained that the report will be up for approval at the January Policy Council meeting. The report was received and filed for the record.
New Business:
Even Start: Carol Krampe gave the report. A grant is being proposed regarding Literacy training for parents and their children up to the age of 8. Counties who will be considered are: Muhlenberg, Webster, McLean, Todd, Hancock, Livingston, and Lyon. This report was received and filed for the record.
Early Head Start/Head Start Health Services: This report was given by Donna Roby, Health Coordinator. This report was received and filed for the record.
Screening & Selection Process: Marian Simpson, Computer System Coordinator gave the report. Marian went over the eligibility requirements for children enrolled based on poverty guidelines. This report was received and filed for the record.
Christmas Party: Carol invited the council to the Audubon Area Community Services, Inc. Christmas Party which will be held on December 19th at the Owensboro Sports Center. The party will begin at 10:00 a.m. Please call Sharon Wilcox at the central office by December 1st if you will be attending.
January PC Training: Carol announced that there will be a one day Policy Council training in January for those members who were not able to make the Policy Council Retreat in October. A date will be announced later.
Due to the Christmas Party in December, there will be no Policy Council meeting in December.
Director's, Budget, and Coordinators' Reports:
Angela Armour made a motion that we accept/approve the Director's report as given. Cheryl McDaniel seconded the motion; motion carried.
Margaret Duke made a motion that we accept/approve the Coordinators' reports as given. Sallie Mummert seconded the motion; motion carried.
