POLICY COUNCIL MEETING


August 19, 1997

MINUTES

The AAHS Policy Council met at Audubon Area Community Services, Inc. in Madisonville on August 19, 1997. The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m. by Rhondalyn Randolph, Chairperson.

Roger Marsiglio made a motion to dispense with roll call. Al Morrell seconded the motion; motion carried. A quorum was present.

Approval of Minutes:

Deborah Wilson made a motion to approve the Minutes from the last meeting. Shirley Sutherlin seconded the motion; motion carried.

Old Business:

Aubrey Nehring reported on the Revision of the Policies & Procedures, due to be ready by December so we can make sure things aline with the revised Performance Standards.

Committee Reports:

Personnel Committee: Rev. Greg Baize gave report of Personnel Committee noting hirings and terminations as noted in the list provided to all Policy Council members. There were 30 new hires and 8 terminations. It was noted that the Council would still like to see the name of the Policy Council member present at the interviews of new staff to be listed on the sheet given to council members.

Jacqueline McKnight made a motion to approve the hirings and terminations. Kimberly Teale seconded the motion; motion carried.

Executive Committee: Aubrey Nehring gave the report. Approval of the Quality Improvement Proposal. Approval of Quality Proposal for Early Head Start.

Dwight Jackson made a motion to approve both proposals. Connie Wallace seconded the motion; motion carried.

New Business:

Reorganization Plan report given by Aubrey Nehring. Work is moving along, we are working toward more on-site supervision. There was a retreat in French Lick Indiana. Aubrey set a 90 day time limit to make the changes as result of this retreat. Aubrey is to meet with the training team on August 20, 1997 to initiate the Implementation Plan.

Bill Hailey made a motion to accept the report. Deborah Wilson seconded the motion; motion carried.

Policy Council Recognition - September 16, 1997. Information given by Carol Krampe. Each member is encouraged to attend this meeting. This report was received and filed for the record.

Director's, Budget, and Coordinators' Reports:

Aubrey gave a verbal report on what has been taking place in the program. No coordinators' reports were written for this meeting.

Connie Wallace made a motion to accept the report. Al Morrell seconded the motion; motion carried.

Forum - Open Discussion - Questions & Answers:

Vicki Ratcliffe asked about playground opening at Hager Preschool. Kimberly Clark helped Audubon Area Community Services to build the playground at the Hager Preschool.
