The AAHS Policy Council met at the Golden Corral in Henderson
on August 20, 1996. The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m.
by Rev. Floyd Johns. Vicki Ratcliffe made a motion to dispense
with roll call. Rev. Marsiglio seconded the motion; motion carried.
A quorum was present
Approval of Minutes:
Marilyn McQuillen made a motion to approve the Minutes from the
last meeting. Rev. Marsiglio seconded the motion; motion carried.
Approval of Agenda:
Jene Reinick made a motion to approve the Agenda. Shirley Sutherlin
seconded the motion; motion carried.
Old Business:
1. By-Laws: Carol explained the changes that were made to the
By-Laws. Dwight Jackson made a motion to accept/approve the changes
as were made. Tammy Wynn seconded the motion; motion carried.
Committee Reports:
1. Personnel Committee. Shirley Sutherlin gave the report from
the meeting. Jene Reinick made a motion to accept the report.
Marilyn McQuillen seconded the motion; motion carried. The report
was received and filed for the record.
2. Screening & Selection Committee: Marian Simpson gave the
report for this committee. She explained the process used for
selecting the Head Start children. This report was received and
filed for record.
New Business:
1. Policy & Procedure Revisions: Aubrey explained that some major changes have taken place this year in the Head Start Policy and Procedure Manuals. Committees were set up to revise each section and a representative from each committee will be presenting these to the Council. Presenters were as follows:
Marian Simpson - Computer
Jody Cobb - Personnel & Finance
Michelle Smith - Transportation, Facilities, and Nutrition
Donna Newman - Disabilities
Sandy Martin - Social Services
Margaret Bailey - Education
Donna Roby - Health
Carol Krampe - Parent Involvement
Each representative went over the major changes that were made
to the sections and any new procedures that were added. Aubrey
thanked the council for their patience while these were presented.
Jene Reinick made a motion to accept/approve the changes/additions.
Shirley Sutherlin seconded the motion; motion carried.
2. September Recognition Meeting. The September meeting will be
held in Owensboro at the Audubon Area Central Office at 1800 West
4th Street. Personnel Committee will meet at 10:00 a.m. with the
regular council meeting at 10:30 a.m.
Budget Report:
Aubrey explained that Audubon was selected as an Early Head Start
recipient. This grant will serve Seventy-five children 0-3 years
of age. Jene Reinick made a motion to accept the budget. Vicki
Ratcliffe seconded the motion; motion carried.
Forum - Open Discussion - Questions & Answers:
Shirley Sutherlin expressed her appreciation of all the good work
that Head Start does.
