The AACS has been chosen by the National Head Start Association (NHSA) to be a pilot site for NHSA’s new direct broadcast satellite (DBS) training network. The NHSA DBS network, called HeadsUP! Network will provide Head Start grantees with high quality news, information, and training. AACS Head Start as a pilot participant, will receive HeadsUP! Head Start TV-satellite broadcast receiving equipment free of charge.

Sarah M. Green, CEO of the NHSA, says that Audubon Area Head Start, as a charter member of the HeadsUP! Network, will be able to:

The HeadsUP! system will be installed and tested out of AACS this summer. Full implementation of the satellite-TV network and its programming will begin in September 1998. A A“sampler” of programming will be available during the setup and testing phase during the summer months.

The HeadsUP! fall schedule will include news, information, and training for administrators, teachers, specialists, and parents. HeadsUp! training will be consistent with the Head Start training guides. Training programs will qualify participants for CEUs, CDA, and other credits in the following areas:

Plus: News and information from Washington, D.C. Audubon Area Community Services, Inc. is delighted to be invited to serve as a charter site and to be involved with this exciting new venture.

We thank NHSA for selecting the AACS Head Start to participate in this initiative.
