Hager Preschool Groundbreaking and Celebration

Owensboro's Foust Elementary School | July 30, 1996


The Hager Preschool Center, Owensboro's city-wide preschool facility, was first occupied for its intended purpose on August 20, 1997. The Center will be formally dedicated in mid-October. At that time this page will be updated with photos of the completed facility. It's magnificent! Visit later and see for yourself.

The Lawrence and Augusta Hager Educational Foundation organized and sponsored the groundbreaking and celebration.


Following are some scenes from the July 1996 groundbreaking and celebration...

Dr. Cheryl King addresses the crowd attending the groundbreaking. Seated (from left to right) are: AACS Board Chair Dr. Ellen Dugan-Barrette,
Executive Director Ron Logsdon, School Board Chair Dr. Tom Maddox, Superintendent Dr. Bill Chandler, Mistress of Ceremonies
Elizabeth (Libby) Alexander, Preschool Principal Pat Jones, and AACS Head Start Director Aubrey Nehring.

The children join in with AACS and Owensboro Public Schools leaders in breaking ground for the new preschool facility.

The children sing "It's a Small World" and "We Are the World"; other children (pictured above is Tyra Goodwin, the daughter of AACS Free To Grow
employee Lisa Curry) also presented each attendee a miniature shovel as a commemorative of the groundbreaking.
